Abstract

The quality of public services in Indonesia is still relatively low while the main role of the government as a state organizer is to provide public services to the community, for this reason, new innovations in services are needed to improve service quality for the better. The importance of paying attention to public innovation can be explained from the characteristics of the public sector which has a vital role for society. This research aims to examine the transformation of the public sector in service innovation. public service innovation as a new breakthrough in public services with ideas and creativity carried out by the government as a public service provider in providing maximum and high quality services for the community. This research is a qualitative research with a developmental research method. The data source in this research is primary data in the form of documentation or archive data.  In collecting data, literature study techniques are used. This research shows that public service innovation plays an important role in supporting good governance and bureaucratic change. Public service innovation can encourage positive changes in the bureaucracy. Information technology-based public service innovation can make public services faster, easily accessible anywhere, cheaper and simpler, thus creating a good image in the community. This research provides a clear answer to the importance of public service innovation as the main tool for achieving the general objectives of good governance and the success of bureaucratic transformation.
